Under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA), the Medical Radiation and Imaging Technology Act, 2017 (MRIT Act), and the Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act (HARP), you must be registered with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) in order to practice as a medical radiation and imaging technologist in Ontario.
The CMRITO has five specialties: radiography, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine, magnetic resonance, and diagnostic medical sonography. You must be registered in each specialty you wish to practise in. The specialty of diagnostic medical sonography includes the three areas of practice of general, cardiac and vascular.
To add another specialty for a program completed in Ontario, you must complete the online application on the CMRITO Portal, using the Ontario application.
To add another specialty for a program completed in another province in Canada, you must complete the online application on the CMRITO Portal, using the non-labor mobility Canadian application.
To add another specialty for a program you completed in medical radiation and imaging technology, you must complete the online application on the CMRITO Portal.
