Discipline

Under the RHPA, a panel of the Discipline Committee holds a hearing when allegations of professional misconduct or incompetence regarding a medical radiation and imaging technologist are referred by the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee.

The Discipline Committee is made up of members of the public and CMRITO registrants.  It sits as an independent tribunal to reach a fair decision based on evidence presented by the CMRITO and the registrant.  Hearings of the Discipline Committee are open to the public.

After a hearing is held, the panel of the Discipline Committee may:

  • revoke the registrant's certificate of registration

  • suspend the registrant's certificate of registration

  • impose conditions on the registrant's certificate of registration

  • reprimand the registrant

  • require the registrant to pay a fine to the Minister of Finance

  • take no further action

If the registrant is found guilty of professional misconduct or incompetence, the fact of the finding and the penalty, if any, is published on the registrant’s public register record, and the CMRITO website and publications.
