Under the RHPA, Ontario’s Fairness Commissioner is charged with ensuring that the registration practices of Ontario’s regulators are transparent, objective, impartial and fair. The Office of the Fairness Commissioner (OFC) achieves this by requiring regulatory bodies to report on their registration practices on a regular basis, and by performing audits. The Office of the Fairness Commissioner has conducted a full assessment of the registration practices of CMRTO using a three year assessment cycle for 2016-2018. The OFC assessed and determined that CMRTO has demonstrated all of the practices in the following specific-duty areas:

The CMRTO completed the assessment of its registration practices for 2013, as required by the Office of the Fairness Commissioner, related to the specific requirement of information provided to applicants and the general duty requirement of transparency. The CMRTO elected to conduct a self-assessment to assess adherence to the general duty principle of transparency. As part of the ongoing continuous improvement process the CMRTO self-identified two initiatives that would provide additional information to applicants and thereby enhance the transparency of our processes. The two recommendations were implemented with immediate effect.
